Easy Start

After a restless night, stirred in particular by our neighbor little Matéo and his nightmares, we wake at dawn on the banks of the Lot, ready to resume our wanderings. A tea and a coffee later, we set off again on the towpath. The river is still steaming at this hour and we fully enjoy the atmosphere. Soon enough, we climb.

The forest

The first climb is long without being steep. We waver between the pines and other deciduous trees before reaching a rather unexciting summit. A break is in order.

Revived by a few cereal bars, we set off again with renewed energy. After a flat stretch, a long descent welcomes us and brings us back near the water.

Bis repetita, climb, plateau, descent. This time we’re heading towards Vers, finally completing the planned loop. We find the little snack bar from the start, where we enjoy a well-deserved cold beer. The thunderstorm that pours down on the campsite won’t dampen our spirits — the tent is waterproof, we wait patiently. During a break in the weather, we have dinner.

For tomorrow, the question remains: will we return on foot or hitchhike to Cahors?
